Spent 4 hours chasing a phantom ice maker leak on a Samsung RF28
Got a call about water on the floor behind a fridge last Tuesday. Figured it was the water line or the fill valve. Checked both, replaced the line just to be safe. Took the back panel off and watched the ice maker cycle like 5 times. Nothing. Then I noticed a tiny crack in the drip tray under the ice maker. It was only seeping when the ice maker dumped a full harvest. That drip tray is like a $15 part but I burned almost half a day finding it. Anyone else run into weird intermittent leaks that only show up under the right conditions?

Wait, hold on. The drip tray? That little plastic thing under the ice maker? I've replaced my share of ice makers and water valves but I never would have thought to look at that. It just sits there catching drips, you know? I always figured if it cracked it would just leak all the time, not only during a full harvest. That is some sneaky nonsense right there. A four hour chase for a 15 dollar part is brutal but I guess that's just how it goes sometimes.

Used to think those drip trays were just for show honestly, but this totally changed my mind. That's wild how it only leaked during a full harvest too, bet that was maddening to track down.

Funny how things like that always seem to happen at the worst possible moment, right? It's like the universe knows when you're already stressed and decides to add a cherry on top. Reminds me of how my car only starts making weird noises when I'm already running late for something important. These little machines have a twisted sense of humor, I swear.
