Swapping my multimeter for a clamp meter on compressor checks
For years I always used my old Fluke multimeter to check compressor windings on fridges. Last month I picked up a clamp meter from HvacDirect for about $80 and it cut my diagnostic time in half. Now I just clamp the wire and read the start and run amps without breaking the circuit. Has anyone else made the switch and noticed a difference on tough calls?

Man it's funny how we get stuck in old habits until something forces a change. That's basically half the stuff I own now, I just find a better tool for one thing and it opens up way more than I expected.
