That old timer who told me to always replace thermal fuses in pairs was right

Had a customer bring back a dryer I fixed last month because it stopped heating again after 3 days. Went back and checked, the other thermal fuse was blown too. Now I replace both every time, cost me an extra 8 bucks but saves a return trip. Has anyone else been burned by a single replacement and had to go back?

Hmm, I actually had the opposite experience with a Kenmore dryer a few years ago... changed one blown thermal fuse, didn't touch the other one, and it ran fine for another 2 years until they sold the house. I think it really depends on what caused the first one to blow in the first place. If it's a bad vent or a clogged exhaust path, sure, both might go eventually, but if it was just a random failure from age or a surge, replacing both feels like throwing money away for no reason. I've got 3 bucks says most of the time it's the airflow problem that's the real issue, not the fuse being lonely.
