That weird fridge noise turned into a full weekend project

I had a Samsung fridge with a low hum that would not go away. Thought it was the fan, but after checking that, I spent hours looking at the drain line and the ice maker. Turns out it was a tiny piece of plastic stuck in the evaporator cover, vibrating against the coil. What should have been a 30 minute check took me almost 8 hours over two days. Anyone else ever get thrown off by a simple part making a weird sound?

My old Honda Civic had a rattle for months that sounded like a loose heat shield. I checked everything under the car. It was a single dried-up acorn from a squirrel, rolling around inside the hollow front bumper support every time I turned a corner. The simplest things make the most maddening noises.

Ever have a noise that was actually a big problem hiding as a small one? My dryer had a squeak that was just a worn belt, but ignoring it almost wrecked the whole drum. Sometimes those weekend projects save you from a real disaster.
