Worst Tuesday in a while when a disposal kicked on with my hand still inside

I was swapping a garbage disposal for a customer in Oak Park. Forgot to flip the breaker and the switch got bumped. Now I know what a shredding ring feels like up close. Anyone else had close calls that make you double check everything?

Man that's rough. I always kill the breaker and put a piece of tape over the switch with a note now after a similar scare. Had a disposer kick on while I was clearing a jam with a hex wrench once. The wrench flew out and hit the cabinet door so hard it left a dent. Now I take the extra two minutes to pull the breaker completely out instead of just flipping it. Pain is a good teacher.

Yeah, @wesley_fox92's tape trick is solid. I started doing something similar after a close call - now I just pull the whole breaker out and toss it in my pocket. Can't flip what's not there.
