Blew $200 on thought leadership articles that went nowhere

I was at a B2B marketing meetup in Chicago last month and this one guy pointed out that my articles had no actual data or unique insight in them, just generic advice. I realized I'd been churning out content that sounded smart but said nothing useful. Has anyone else found that adding a specific stat or customer story makes a huge difference in engagement?

oh god yeah i did the same thing last year but with blog posts about "why your teeth need flossing" for a dentist office client. thought i was being clever with all this flowery language and no actual numbers. turns out nobody cares about "enhancing your oral hygiene routine" but they totally clicked when i wrote "patient saved $400 by flossing for 30 days straight with pictures of her gums." basically i learned that sounding smart is the enemy of being useful. now i just try to sound like a normal person who actually has something to say instead of a robot who read a thesaurus.

Nah this is way too dramatic. It's just a blog post.
