Dropped 200 bucks on a LinkedIn lead gen tool that totally flopped
I bought this tool that was supposed to auto-find ideal B2B contacts, but after a month all I got was spam replies and a bunch of wrong emails. Has anyone else had better luck with those scraping tools or are they all hype?

Those tools are mostly junk because they scrape outdated databases and then try to sell you on the numbers. Did you ever check the data source before buying? Most of them just pull from public directories that haven't been updated in years, so you end up emailing people who left their jobs months ago. What kind of filtering options did they offer for your industry or job titles specifically? Because if you can't narrow it down to people with decision-making roles in active companies, you're just blasting spam into the void.

Yeah I'll be honest... I used to think those tools were the way to go. Thought I was being smart by automating the whole process. Then I spent a month emailing people who'd been gone from their companies for like a year and a half. Dead leads everywhere. That's when I started actually checking the dates on the data and realized half of it was from 2020. The filtering was basically just "industry" with maybe 5 broad options, nothing for job titles or decision makers. Total waste of time and money.
