I was talking to my friend who runs a small tool company about his email list.

He said he stopped sending weekly newsletters because his open rate was only 12%. I told him that was crazy, because for his niche, that's actually pretty good. He thought he needed a 40% open rate to be successful. We looked at his last campaign together, and one email with a case study about a repair shop in Cleveland got a 22% click-through rate from that small group. He was only looking at the wrong number. How do you guys figure out what your real 'good' metrics are for a small B2B list?

Wait, he thought he needed a FORTY percent open rate? That's wild.
