Lost a $40k deal in Austin because our own CRM lied about the lead score
Something broke in our pipeline three weeks ago and I'm still mad about it. Our CRM was auto-tagging inbound leads as high intent when they were just people who downloaded one old ebook. Sales chased 62 of those leads for a week in Austin and closed nothing. I pulled the settings and saw the score rule was never updated since we set it up 14 months ago. My hot take is that lead scoring is mostly a crutch that lets marketing avoid talking to sales. We killed the score entirely and now reps just read the actual form answers before calling. Anyone else nuke their scoring model and go manual?
