Watched a sales guy at a Dallas trade show lose a $40k deal over one dumb booth sign
I was at a B2B expo in Dallas back in March and spent most of the day watching how people walked the floor. The booth with the best traffic had a sign that just said what problem they solve in 6 words, while the booth next door had a 4 foot wall of text about their 'integrated solutions platform.' A guy in a polo stood at that text wall for maybe 10 seconds, frowned, and walked straight to the simple sign instead. Anyone else think plain talk beats buzzwords at these events, or is it just me?
Doubt the sign was the real reason that guy walked. Trade show deals die for a hundred boring reasons and nobody in the room knows the real one, so blaming a booth sign is just a good story after the fact. Plenty of ugly booths with walls of text still close big deals because the rep knows his stuff and the buyer already did his homework before he even walked in.
