That dumb spring clamp on my cabinet door actually outlasted the fancy soft close hinge
Honestly I was ready to give up on my kitchen cabinets after the third door came loose in 2 months. I tried the soft close hinges everyone raves about, spent about $60 at the hardware store in Lansing, and two of them still sagged. So last Saturday I said forget it and just screwed a $3 spring clamp inside each door to pull it snug when it shuts. Sounds janky I know, but it works better than anything else I've tried because it pulls the door into the frame instead of fighting the hinge. My wife laughed at me and called it my redneck engineering, but she hasn't complained once since. The doors close quiet and stay shut, and I didn't have to take anything apart again. Ngl I feel kind of dumb for not trying the cheap fix first. Has anyone else found a $5 hardware store fix that beat a more expensive part?
