The day I tried to fix a squeaky stair and ended up in the ER
Last Tuesday I decided to tackle that annoying squeak on the third step from the top. I pulled up the carpet, grabbed my drill, and somehow managed to hit the water line running under the floorboard. Water sprayed everywhere for like 10 minutes before I found the shutoff, and my landlord's repair bill came to $540. Has anyone else had a simple fix turn into a plumbing disaster?

Omg that's brutal! My buddy Mike did something similar last year. He was trying to hang a shelf in his bathroom and drilled straight into a pipe behind the tile. Water just started pouring out and he couldn't find the main shutoff for like 20 minutes. His whole downstairs ceiling caved in from the water damage. His landlord was chill about it but he still had to pay $800 for the plumbing and then his security deposit got eaten up for the drywall. He jokes about it now but I swear he flinches every time he sees a drill. The worst part is he could've just used a stud finder for $20 and saved himself the whole nightmare.
