Thought clamping my table legs was overkill until the whole bench walked across my garage
I built a workbench out of 2x4s and plywood back in March and figured glue and screws were plenty. Six weeks in, the whole thing would tip and slide whenever I planed a board, and a clamp I forgot to tighten left a dent in my only nice chisel. My neighbor Dale let me use his old Record vise and said one thing: bolt it to the floor or bolt it to the wall, no in between. I drilled four 3/8 inch anchors into the slab, and the bench has not moved a hair since. Turns out the wobble was the real reason my cuts kept coming out off square. Anyone else fight their bench for a whole project before admitting the fix was four holes?
