Moved from Austin to Spokane for a $12k payout and cheaper rent, but my social life went from packed weekends to nothing but my dog and a gym membership. Is it smarter to keep grinding in a boring city for the savings, or does the isolation cost more than the money's worth?
I moved up here for a warehouse gig that paid $3 more an hour, but I was spending 2 hours a day on the 41 bus. Last week it finally hit me when I did the math on paper. That's 500 hours a year just sitting there listening to someone's speaker phone. I swapped to a job 15 minutes from my apartment, took a pay cut, and I'm actually sleeping past 5am now. Has anyone else made the trade-off of money for time and regretted it or not?
