Can we talk about the Tuesday I quit my job and cried in a Kroger parking lot?
So last Tuesday I finally did it. I walked into my office at the insurance place in Lexington, handed my badge to my manager, and left after 6 years. I had been talking about quitting since January and just kept pushing it back. The parking lot at the Kroger on Tates Creek is where I sat in my car for like 40 minutes and just sobbed. Not sad tears really, more like a pressure valve letting go. I had $0 in savings when I started that job and now I have about $4,200, which is not a lot but it is mine. My sister texted me 'you okay?' and I typed back 'I think so' and stared at that for a long time. What got me out the door was my old coworker Dana who quit in March and told me 'you will keep finding reasons to stay forever.' I start at a smaller company doing basically the same work on the 14th, so this is not some huge leap. Has anyone else quit a job they didn't hate, just to get away from the version of themselves they turned into there?
