I said I would never leave my hometown, then I counted 27 straight weekends alone
I kept telling everyone I would die in the same 3 mile radius I grew up in, that was the plan forever. Then one Sunday I looked at my calendar and counted 27 weekends in a row where I did not leave my apartment except for work and groceries. That number hit me hard, so I applied to a job in Denver on a Tuesday and got the offer 11 days later. Loading my car took 4 hours and I cried in the driveway, but I signed a lease on a 400 square foot place with no parking spot. For people who made a move like this, did the lonely part fade after the first month or am I in for a long winter?
What did your weekends actually look like before you left, were you alone at home or just not going anywhere? The reason I ask is 27 weekends of no plans and 27 weekends of turning down invites are two very different problems. If people were asking and you kept saying no, moving won't fix that, you'll just be alone in a new zip code. If nobody was asking at all, then yeah, new city is the right call.
