Took a job in Seattle without a place to live and slept in my car for 9 days
I moved across the country for a job I'd only interviewed for on a video call, and the start date was 3 weeks out. My lease back home ended 2 weeks before that, so I figured I'd find a room once I got there. Big mistake. I got to Seattle on a Sunday night, the room I'd lined up through a Facebook group fell through when the guy stopped answering texts, and I ended up sleeping in my Corolla in a grocery store parking lot in Ballard. For 9 days I showered at a Planet Fitness, kept my work clothes on a hanger in the back seat, and told nobody at the new job. On day 6 a guy at a coffee shop overheard me on the phone with a landlord and gave me the number of his old roommate who needed someone for a spare room in Greenwood. I moved in that Friday for $850 a month. Has anyone else moved somewhere with zero backup plan like that? Would you do it again or was I just lucky?
