Why does nobody warn you that quitting your job to move to Denver kills your whole routine
I quit a steady gig in Ohio three weeks ago and moved out here for my wife's transfer, and the thing that wrecked me was not the money or the boxes, it was losing the two guys at the shop who I ate lunch with every day, so if you have moved for someone else's job, how long did it take before you had people to eat lunch with again?
The "two guys at the shop who I ate lunch with every day" line is the realest part of this whole post. I mean, people warn you about rent and traffic and missing your family, nobody tells you that lunch suddenly means eating a sad sandwich alone in your car. Took me almost five months after my move to find a work buddy who wanted to grab food. Until then I just sat in my truck with a podcast and pretended it was fine. Maybe it's just me but that silent lunch hour was worse than the homesickness.
