Dropped a hot billet on my foot, learned a lesson about grip
Was working a demo at the county fair last summer, went to flip a 3 pound billet with my tongs and it slipped, landed right on my steel toe and bounced off. The crowd laughed, I cursed under my breath, and now I always wrap my tong jaws with a bit of leather for extra bite. Anyone else ever had a close call in front of a live audience?

Buddy of mine had the same thing happen at a church potluck demo, except the billet landed on his sneaker and he hopped around for a week. He now swears by those magnetic tongs with the rubber grips, swears they never slip. Crowd loved it though, got a bigger laugh than the bingo caller did all night.
