Knocked my anvil off the stump during a demo at the county fair last Saturday

I was showing a group of kids how to draw out a 1 inch round bar and got a little too aggressive with the hammer. The anvil tipped right off the walnut stump and landed on my boot, luckily just bruised my foot. Had to wrap up early and spend the rest of the afternoon grinding a new flat spot on the base. Anyone else ever had their anvil come off the stand or am I the only clumsy one?

Three years ago I had mine fly off the stump during a striking demo at a hammer-in. Same thing, got carried away and the whole rig went over sideways. It landed base down on the concrete floor and put a nice chip in the edge of the base. I spent a whole Saturday with a flap disc and a straight edge to get it flat again. What saved me from doing it again was bolting a piece of 3/8 plate to the bottom of the stump and then lagging the anvil base into that plate through the pritchel hole. Stops it from walking or tipping no matter how hard you hit.

Man that sucks, glad you didnt break anything worse than your pride and a flat spot. Ive had mine wobble a couple times when I got too heavy handed but never full on tipped. Its scary how fast it happens one second youre in the zone and the next your anvils on its side. Must have been tough having to grind the base back flat after that, takes forever to get it right. Props to you for keeping it together in front of the kids though, thats what matters.
