My cheap anvil stand collapsed mid-project, nearly took out my foot

Last Tuesday I was forging a set of leaf hooks, about 3 hours into a long session, when my homemade stand finally gave out. I built it from stacked 2x6s and lag bolts back in April, but the wood had dry rotted near the base without me noticing. The anvil tipped forward, bounced off my boot, and landed on the concrete with a crack that echoed through the whole shop. I spent the rest of the afternoon rebuilding it with angle iron and carriage bolts, but now I'm second guessing if I should just buy a proper fabricated stand. Anyone else had a setup failure that scared them straight or made them rethink their rig?
