Vent: My tool steel anneal is taking days and messing up my deadlines
I'm hand forging a set of drifts for my home forge. To stop cracks, the steel has to cool down super slow, so I've been watching the fire for what feels like forever. Last time, I left it overnight and the heat dropped too quick, ruining the piece. Now a customer's order is late because I'm stuck in this wait. It's frustrating when most of the job is just sitting around. Do you guys have any tips to handle long anneals without losing your mind? How do you plan projects when one step eats up all your time?

Read somewhere that some geology projects take longer than human lifespans. Kinda puts things in perspective.
