Watching a glassblower in Sedona made me rethink my forge welding prep

I mean, seeing how carefully they cleaned and heated their glass rods before joining them was a lightbulb moment. I started spending an extra five minutes wire-brushing my steel, and my weld failures dropped by half. Anyone else pick up a trick from a totally different craft?

What, you thought a potter couldn't teach a welder anything?

Stole my best trick from a baker, of all people. Watched them weigh flour to the exact gram and thought, why am I eyeballing my flux? Started measuring that stuff like a science project, and my forge stopped spitting out those sad, crumbly welds. Guess precision matters whether you're making a sourdough or a sword.
