I grabbed 'The Three-Body Problem' on sale right before the Netflix series dropped, thinking I'd read it first to compare. Two months later I still haven't cracked it and now the show is old news. Has anyone else bought a book after a movie announcement and just let it sit there?

I bought the Dune audiobook on a whim for $45 thinking I'd be super prepared for the movie, but I ended up falling asleep 3 times during the first hour because the narrator's voice was so monotone. By the time I got to the theater I only remembered like 20% of the plot and kept confusing characters. Sat in my car for 10 minutes after the Harry Potter movie ruined the ending

I was at the AMC in Arlington last Thursday night for the final Deathly Hallows movie. The whole theater gasped when Voldemort died but I was just sitting there angry. In the book Harry actually talks to him first, explains everything, gives him a chance. The movie just had them wrestling off a cliff like action heroes. I almost yelled something but my girlfriend shushed me. Walked out in dead silence and we argued about it for 20 minutes in the parking lot. The book handled it way better don't you think?
