Can we talk about the new Percy Jackson show and how it made me feel dumb for loving the movies?

I was rewatching the old Logan Lerman movies last week, thinking they were fun, until I saw the new Disney+ show stick so close to the book's plot. The moment in episode 4 where they actually spend a full day on the arch like the book, instead of rushing it, showed me I'd been settling for a bad adaptation the whole time. Has anyone else had a show ruin a movie they used to like?

Remember watching the old Narnia movies and thinking they were fine. Then the BBC miniseries from the 80s showed up on streaming, with that weird but totally faithful animated Aslan, and my whole view shifted. It felt like I finally got the real story, and the big budget films suddenly seemed all flash and no heart.

Heard a podcast say the BBC version's low budget forced them to focus on the dialogue and story. Makes total sense.
