Hit 50 book to screen adaptations watched this year and the last one finally broke me

I just finished my 50th adaptation with The Last of Us and it made me realize I need to stop comparing every show to the book because I ruined a good series for myself by nitpicking every scene, anyone else hit a milestone that changed how you watch these things?

The Last of Us is a game adaptation, not a book adaptation.

I hit 45 adaptations last year and something clicked for me too but it was less about books and more about how I treat everything like a checklist. Like @alex_hall91 mentioned with The Last of Us being a game not a book, it made me realize I do this with real life stuff too. I catch myself keeping mental score of how many movies I've seen or restaurants I've tried and it takes the fun out of just being there. My buddy Tony does this with craft beer he rates every one on some app and never just drinks a beer without comparing it to something else. Sometimes you gotta shut off the critic part of your brain and let a thing be a thing.
