Hit my 50th book-to-screen comparison post yesterday and it made me feel weird
I've been tracking every adaptation I watch against the book for about 18 months now and number 50 was The Peripheral series, which actually nailed the vibe better than the novel in my opinion. Has anyone else hit a milestone that made them rethink their whole approach to judging adaptations?

Yeah I used to be the kind of person who would get mad if a movie changed one small detail from the book. Then I watched Annihilation and realized the movie actually made the ending way more powerful by not even trying to explain what the shimmer was. So now when I go into an adaptation I treat it more like a cover song than a copy of the original.

Totally agree, the "cover song" thing is exactly how I see adaptations now too.
