Hot take: The Harry Potter movies are actually better than the books

I know everyone says the books are always better, but I hit page 500 in Order of the Phoenix and realized I was just bored. The movies cut out all the endless descriptions of homework and boring Ministry scenes. I fell asleep twice reading that one, but I've watched the film adaptations about 10 times now. Am I the only one who thinks the movies improved the story?

Oh man, I'm so with you on this. I tried reading Goblet of Fire and literally gave up halfway through because I was drowning in all those tiny subplots that don't matter. Like, do we really need to know every single thing Hermione checked out of the library? The movies actually respect your time, you know? They keep the funny bits and the emotional stuff and cut out all the boring parts. Order of the Phoenix is probably the best example, the movie zips along and doesn't make you suffer through pages of Umbridge being a jerk in slow motion.

Wait, didn't I see some article about how the Harry Potter movies actually cut out whole characters that were important later? Like that one guy who helped Harry in the final book but wasn't in any of the films? Makes you wonder how much they really "respect your time" when they skip stuff that actually mattered. Order of the Phoenix movie cut the whole thing about the centaurs and all that stuff with Grawp, which felt kind of important for the story. I hear you on the library scenes though, those got old real fast.
