That's a good point, but I always notice the floorboards. In a quiet scene, you hear a character shift their weight and the wood creaks. That tiny sound tells you they're nervous or hiding something. It builds the whole world without a single line of dialogue. The silence lets those small truths come through.

If you think about it, in a normal movie you'd have music or background noise to tell you something is tense, but here they just let the air do the work. The weight of that silence actually makes the creaks and footsteps feel louder than they are, which is way more effective than a regular horror movie sound effect.
