I tried watching the 'Eragon' movie after reading the book and wow

I mean, I read the book when I was like 13 and loved it, so I finally got around to the 2006 movie last weekend. Idk, maybe it's just me but they changed so much it felt like a totally different story. They cut out major characters and the dragon Saphira grows up in like two days instead of months. The whole thing just felt rushed and cheap, honestly. I think the book worked because you got to live in the world, but the movie was just a bunch of scenes slapped together. Has anyone else seen an adaptation that missed the point this badly?

The first movie got the Lotus Casino scene right, but that's about it. The rest was a mess.
