My sister told me to skip the 'Dune' movie and just read the book
She said the 2021 film would be too confusing and leave out too much. I watched it anyway and honestly, I thought it did a great job with the world of Arrakis and the big ideas, even if it was a lot to take in. Now I'm curious, for a story that dense, do you usually prefer the book or the screen version first?

Your sister sounds like a book purist. I always watch the movie first, that way the book is like getting the full, better story later.

But what if the movie spoils the book's best surprises? In my experience, the book usually has those deeper layers you miss on screen.
