My sister's spoiler rule for book adaptations backfired on me big time
My sister insisted I read the book before watching the show, always, or I'd 'ruin the experience'. So I spent 3 weeks powering through this dense fantasy novel, taking notes on every plot twist, and then we watched the first episode together. Turns out the showrunner completely changed the ending, killed off a character who lives in the book, and added a whole subplot about a lighthouse keeper. My sister just shrugged and said 'adaptations are loose' while I sat there holding a spoiler list that was useless. Has anyone else had a 'read the book first' plan totally wrecked by a wild adaptation choice?

Maybe the real spoiler was discovering that book purists were never the target audience anyway lol.
