My turn around on movie cuts started with the Harry Potter films
I used to hate when movies left out book stuff (like, seriously, why skip those cool details?). But after seeing how the Harry Potter films trimmed down the longer books, I realized it helped the story move faster. My tip is to think of the movie as its own thing, not just a copy of the book. For example, the film cut some side plots, but it made the main adventure feel more exciting. Now I watch adaptations with an open mind, and I enjoy both versions more. Try it next time you see a book movie, it might change your view too.

Oh man, my friend Sarah was the same way with The Hunger Games movies. She spent weeks before the first one came out telling everyone how they would ruin it by leaving things out. Then she saw it and came back totally quiet. She finally admitted the movie had its own feel, like it was faster and more tense in a good way. It clicked for her that a straight copy would have been a four hour mess. Now she gets excited to see how they change things.
