Saw that "The Godfather" movie actually cut out the whole subplot about Sonny's... you know...

I stumbled on a YouTube video last night that said the movie left out Sonny's, uh, unusual size detail from the book and it honestly made me rethink why they pick and choose certain things when adapting, has anyone else found a random deleted character or plot point like that?

Read that too. They also cut out that whole thing in the book about the orange symbolism foreshadowing death, which explains why oranges keep popping up in random scenes.

Wait did they really cut out the orange thing too? I read the book back in high school and never noticed that detail until someone pointed it out later. What worked for me was actually rewatching the movie after reading the book. Totally different experience. You catch so much more. Like the whole Luca Brasi backstory in the book made his death scene way more impactful in the movie for me. Kind of makes you appreciate what they kept versus what they dropped.
