Showerthought: The Dark Tower movie was a total flop compared to the books

I finally watched the Dark Tower movie after reading all 8 books and man it was like they took the names and nothing else. The books had this whole layered world and the movie just smashed it into a 90 minute action flick that missed everything important. Did anyone else feel like they completely wasted a good adaptation opportunity?

Man they butchered it. Not even close to the books.

But the weird thing is, some of the changes actually fix stuff that didn't work in the books. Like the pacing in the second act was always a slog, and the show trimmed it down to something that actually moves. I think people are too stuck on "it's different" to see where the adaptation actually improves the story.
