That one conversation at a used bookstore about The Shining movie vs book still bugs me

The movie ending is way better for film. King can say what he wants, but Kubrick knew what he was doing.

Doesn't it bother you how people act like Kubrick can do no wrong? I get that the movie is a classic, but the ending just felt flat to me compared to King's more chilling finale. @benlewis, I see what you're saying about film needing a different approach, but that hotel burning down felt too tidy. King's version leaves you with that cold dread that sticks with you for days. I still think about that hedge animal scene in the book and how it never made it into the movie. Maybe Kubrick knew film, but King knew his own story best.
