That scene in Watching the Detectives that ruined the whole vibe for me
I was curled up on my couch last Tuesday night with a bowl of popcorn, finally watching the adaptation of Watching the Detectives, which I loved as a book. About forty minutes in, there's this big emotional reveal where the main character finds out a secret about her dad. In the book, it's this quiet, gut-punch moment where she just sits in her car for an hour and you feel everything. In the movie, they turned it into this loud, dramatic argument in a diner with everyone staring. I literally paused it and walked away for a minute because I was so annoyed. My sister texted me asking if it was good, and I just sent back a crying emoji. Has anyone else had a favorite book scene completely butchered by a director who missed the whole point?

The diner scene wasn't in the book at all I checked my copy last night.

Right, and it's the same thing when a movie trailer shows a scene that's completely different in the actual film.
