The 2005 Pride and Prejudice vs the 1995 BBC miniseries debate
I finally watched both versions back to back last week, and it really shows how different a movie and a TV show can handle the same book. The 2005 film with Keira Knightley is beautiful and feels like a dream, but it cuts so much out, like Mr. Collins's whole weird vibe and a lot of the family's money problems. The BBC miniseries with Colin Firth is over six hours long, so it gets every little joke and letter from the book, but it can feel slow. For me, the miniseries wins because it feels like you're actually reading the book, scene for scene. The movie is nice to look at, but it's more like a highlight reel. Which version do you think actually gets the spirit of Jane Austen's book better?

You nailed it with the highlight reel thing. The movie is pretty but it skips all the good, awkward stuff that makes the book so funny. The miniseries just gets it.

But what if the movie's pace is the point?
