TIL the woman next to me on a flight to Denver said she rewatches the 'Pride and Prejudice' 2005 movie every year but has never finished the book
We got to talking because we both had the same paperback, and when I asked which she liked more she laughed and said the movie, which honestly felt like a small betrayal until she explained that the book is what she reads when she can't sleep.
Is it bad that I'm the total opposite and I've seen the 2005 movie like fifteen times but still haven't cracked open the book? Every time I try I get about twenty pages in and then suddenly it's three hours later and I've just been staring at a wall thinking about Mr. Darcy's hand flex. My book club actually kicked me out last year, not officially but I could feel the vibe change when I admitted I'd watched the Keira Knightley version more times than I'd read any actual novel. The sleep thing though, that part I get, because there's something about a book you already know that lets your brain just relax. Maybe I should try that with the actual P&P book instead of just rewatching the pond scene on repeat.
