Update: That Netflix adaptation of The Three-Body Problem crashed HARD for me
I was hyped for the show but by episode 4 the pacing was so off I couldn't finish it. The book's timeline jumped around too but the show made it confusing as hell. Anyone else bail on it early?

Wait, did we watch different shows? I was defending the pacing until I read your breakdown of the VR game stuff - you're right, that part was a mess and I totally changed my mind on it.

The shift to the VR game stuff felt totally rushed and the show expects you to care about these characters getting killed in this game world but they didn't make any of them interesting first. Like in the book you get more time to understand the whole mystery around the game and why it matters but the show just throws you in there. That detective character had no buildup either they just made him the lead and gave him these big emotional scenes that fell flat because we barely knew him. The whole thing needed like two more episodes just to breathe.
