Warning: Skip that 'The Dark Tower' movie adaptation

I dropped $15 on the 2017 Dark Tower movie after loving the book series, and it was a complete waste of money. They crammed seven books into 90 minutes and turned Roland into a generic action hero instead of the complex gunslinger he is. Did anyone else feel like they got robbed by that mess?

Hold on a minute. That movie gets way more hate than it deserves. They had to condense a massive series into a single film, and honestly, they picked the right parts to keep. The core story of Roland chasing the Man in Black across a dying world is still there, just streamlined for people who haven't read the books. Idris Elba brought a quiet, tired intensity to the role that felt true to the character's soul, even if they skipped some side plots. And the action scenes were actually pretty cool, especially the shootout at the Dixie Pig. It's not the book, sure, but as a standalone supernatural western, it's a solid, fun ride. Sometimes you gotta judge a movie for what it is, not what you wanted it to be from a 4,000-page series.

Bring up the weirdest thing nobody mentions... that abandoned theme park in the middle of nowhere, with the ragged animatronics still twitching and singing. Felt more like a fever dream than a movie scene, but it nailed the whole "world moving on" vibe better than any exposition could. Creeped me out more than any action sequence did, honestly.
