Watched the Dune reboot first then went back to the 80s version

I saw the new Dune in theaters last month here in Portland and loved it so much I finally watched the 1984 David Lynch version on streaming. The old one's visual effects felt super dated and the weirding module thing made me laugh out loud. Has anyone else found it harder to enjoy an old adaptation after seeing a newer one first?

Read somewhere the new one is closer to the book, @elizabethwhite, but the 80s one has that weird weird vibe.

84 Lynch version feels like someone had a fever dream after reading the first half of the book. They nailed the look and the weird vibe but the story is all over the place. New one is way more straight forward, it actually follows the plot step by step. I think the new one works better as a movie but the old one is more memorable in a strange way.
