Watching the Witcher without reading the books first ruined S1 for me

I was at a friend's house in Chicago last month and they put on episode 1 of The Witcher without any context. I had no clue what was happening with the timelines until I read the books after and it all clicked. Has anyone else made that mistake and wished they read the source material first?

I've seen people say the show jumps around way too much if you haven't read the books first.

yeah i get that complaint for sure. when i started watching i hadnt read the books yet and i was lost a bunch of times, but honestly i just kept watching and it started clicking. the way i handled it was i looked up character names on my phone while watching, nothing crazy just quick searches so i knew who was who. by like episode three or four i was fine and now i love it way more than most shows.
