Appreciation post: That $20 Amazon camp pillow I laughed at actually saved my sleep

I figured a cheap inflatable pillow would be a joke but after 4 nights in the Smokies last month I woke up without a crick in my neck for the first time. Anyone else have a piece of gear they bought as a joke that turned out amazing?

That "first time without a crick in my neck" thing makes me wonder if you just got lucky honestly. Most cheap inflatable pillows (and I've tried a few) end up letting out air by 3 AM or feeling like you're lying on a half-deflated pool float. I'd argue a rolled up fleece jacket actually gives you more consistent support without the risk of waking up with your head flat on the ground.

Had the same thing happen with mine, woke up with my head practically on the ground.
