Got caught in a surprise downpour on the Skyline Trail last fall.
My old rain jacket soaked through in like 20 minutes, and I was freezing. I ended up buying a new one from a brand I never tried before, and it's been solid. What's your go-to piece of gear for really wet weather?

My buddy swears by a waxed canvas poncho for heavy rain, says it breathes better than any jacket. I tried it on a trip to the Olympics last year and stayed totally dry.

Ever layer a cheap plastic poncho over your main jacket? It sounds dumb but that extra air gap stops the cold soak-through when your shell wets out.
