Honestly, I spent a whole afternoon trying to get a new tent pole to fit my old rainfly

Ngl, I thought it would take 20 minutes, but the sleeve was a different size. Ended up taking about 4 hours of fiddling with cord and a sewing kit. Anyone else have a trick for making mismatched gear work together?

Just use the wrong pole as a spare stake.

Yeah, pole sleeves are a pain. I saw a forum post where someone snapped a pole trying to force it as a stake. The metal is too brittle for that.

Wait, isn't that a pole sleeve? I thought rainflies usually had grommets or clips. Maybe yours is an older style?
