I finally figured out why my sleeping bag always felt damp in the morning...

It took a wet trip to the Red River Gorge for me to realize I was storing it wrong. I kept it rolled tight in its stuff sack for weeks, and a buddy said 'you're crushing the loft, man.' Anyone have a better way to store a synthetic bag long term?

Oh man, that's a classic mistake! I hang mine up in a big closet, just loose on a hanger. It keeps the fill from getting packed down.

You kept it rolled up for weeks? That's a total disaster.

Yeah hanging it loose is really the best move, I use one of those big heavy duty hangers from a coat closet and just let it breathe. The stuff sack is only for when you're actually hauling it to a campsite, not daily storage. If you don't have a closet, you can also just lay it flat on a shelf in a dry spot and it'll keep its loft fine.
