Checked if your valve has a little piece of dirt or sand stuck in it? That tiny debris can break the seal and make you lose air slowly over a few hours. A quick rinse and dry fixed my buddy's pad that he was about to throw away.

Right, and here I am the guy who spent three hours googling "mystery air leak" and took the whole valve apart with tweezers only to find nothing. Then I realized I had the thing inflated on top of a tiny pebble on my garage floor, which was slowly poking a hole in it from the bottom. I felt like a complete idiot, but hey, at least I didn't throw it away. Your friend's fix is way smarter than my "blame the dirt on the floor" approach. A rinse is definitely the first thing I'll try next time before I go all Sherlock Holmes on a sleeping pad.
