My buddy told me to never trust a cheap sleeping bag's temp rating, and he was dead on.

I bought a '20 degree' bag for $40 online before a trip to the Adirondacks last fall. The first night it got down to about 35, and I was freezing, like shivering all night. I mean, the rating was a total lie, it felt more like a 50-degree bag. Has anyone else had a specific brand or model completely fail you like that?

Yeah but @davis.iris, a cheap bag being off by 15 degrees isn't exactly a shocker lol.

Honestly, that exact thing happened with a Coleman bag I got on sale. Tbh, the 30 degree rating felt more like 45. I was cold all night in the Catskills.
