Switched from a heavy rain fly to a tarp on my last trip and it was a game changer
I had this big, bulky rain fly (like 4 pounds) that I always used for my tent. Then a guy at the REI in Denver told me to try a simple tarp setup for my hammock instead. Over 3 nights in the Smokies, I saved so much pack weight and it handled a downpour way better. No condensation issues at all. Has anyone else made this switch and stuck with it?

Switched to a 3 oz silnylon tarp myself and never looked back.
